Christmas Day 2009

Had a wonderful day with Lewis, my 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 2 grandsons. Ate a great brunch. Christmas Stollen, first time I've made this- sooo good, mexican eggs(Matt made)yum, turkey bacon, fried taters, fruit salad and Dunkin doughnuts coffee. Then we read the Christmas Story and opened a few presents. The men went to the basement for a while and played darts and the women and kids watched a Madagascar Christmas video. Took a lot of pictures. Two of the sons and families have gone home now and Lewis and Matthew have gone for a walk up the hill behind our house hunting.

I'm so thankful for the wonderful gift God sent to us so many years ago. His son. I can't imagine what that must have been like. I also can't imagine what it must have been like to be Mary. To be given such a responsibility of raising the Son of God. When I read that story when my sons were little, I would try to think how Mary raised Jesus and I'd pray that God would help me to be a mother like her and try and treat my sons as I would if I was raising Jesus. He did help me. I have some awesome sons. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

December 2009

It's been a while since writing here. I don't have a good excuse so I'm just going to write now. I've got a nasty cold. Feelin' yucky. I have so much to be thankful for though. A wonderful husband, 3 great sons, 2 beautiful daughters-in-law, 2 grandsons I adore, a warm home, plenty of good food, a car that gets me where I need to be. I still have some cleaning jobs but I have lost several over the last year. The economy. I'm praying the Lord would send me some more work. All my sons need work too. They're working some here and there but nothing full time. The Lord is taking care of us all though and teaching us to depend on Him more and what is really important.

We did have a beautiful snow this past Sabbath. Here's one picture I took.

Vacation

Went on a wonderful vacation with my honey October 2, his birthday. We went to Ocracoke, NC for a week. Lots of fishing, painting, drawing, reading and enjoying being together. It's a beautiful place. Very relaxing. Next year I'd like my whole family to go and rent a house on the beach.

Last Tuesday was first day back to reality. Lewis sure didn't want to go to work.

Yesterday, we got our 2 grandsons. They are going home in a few. Braden is almost 3. He's sitting here drawing and singing in Spanish. He sings so good. A.J. is napping.

Tommorrow it's back to work. Thank you, Lord for work and for the weekends.

09/09/09

That's an unusual date. My grandson called me today. He's almost 3. He probably had some help.

I'm so thankful for my family. So many family with needs. So many people with needs for Jesus in their lives. I pray for them. Especially for the family to know Jesus and trust in Him with their whole heart and lean not on their own understanding.

Happy Birthday

It's my birthday, and I'm thankful for my health. I don't feel 51. I'm going to have lunch with my sister, Lorine. It's her birthday too but she's a few years younger than me. It's crazy how that happened. I remember when I was told I had a sister for my birthday I wasn't too thrilled. I'm thankful for her now though. I got to be her coach at her daughter's birth.

I was walking my dog this morning and my daughter-in-law's mother called and she and my grandson sang happy birthday to me. That was so sweet.

Labor Day

I've had a very relaxing Labor Day. It started out with a nice breakfast, a walk to the garden. Still getting some figs, a few green beans and tomatoes, quite a bit of okra. Last Sunday we planted kale, beets, spinach and swiss chard. It's up and already needing thinning.

Lewis and my youngest son, Matthew went fishing around noon. And I took a vacation too. Sat out on the back deck in the sun and read a book for about half an hour. Then came in and read/ dozed. Then got on facebook and then decided to start this blog. I've been thinking about it and today I had time.

Now the men are back and hungry. Feeding them.
I've just started my blog. Learning as I go. I love to learn new things. I love to worship my God and enjoy His creation, especially my family. My wonderful husband, my three handsome sons, my two beautiful daughters-in-law, my two grandsons who are such blessings.

I have a lot of dreams and I've had a lot of them come true. A blessed marriage, good health, a comfortable home, a wonderful family. Now that my sons are grown and Lewis and I are 50 plus, I think there's something else out there for us to do besides just working. I want to do something I enjoy and something I can share with others.

I want to paint more, cook more, and share the stuff I've learned with the younger women like Paul says in his letter to Titus, chapter 2, verses 3 -5.

I want to start a Bible study, have a cooking class and maybe an art class.
